Zack Bird was born on September 11, 1969 to William and Bronwyn Bird. Zack grew up in a home with both parents working as artists. Some of his earliest memories were of drawing or painting on the walls of one of the two functional studios in his home. Zack attended the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts where he flourished as a young artist. He chose to continue his education at Philadelphia's Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art where he studied print making, metal fabricating and painting. Fresh out of school in 1992 Zack moved to Atlanta and worked in a number of advertising agencies as an Art Director. While in Atlanta, Zack was selected as chief mural artist for the Palm Restaurants, his decorative murals and faux finishes can be found in 26 Palm venues nationwide. In 2001 due to the devastating effects of 9-11, The Palm postponed the development of 3 new restaurants. With his schedule now open Zack saw a rare opportunity to pursue his lifelong ambition of founding his own mural and faux painting business, Smartwork Studio. When he is not traveling the country creating new restaurant interiors he is designing and installing original works of art from his studio/residence in Philadelphia.
